The mission of the Chamblee History Project is to identify, preserve, and promote the historical and cultural heritage of Chamblee, Georgia. We are committed to safeguarding artifacts, documents, oral histories, and landmarks that reflect the city’s diverse past. Through research, education, and community engagement, we aim to foster an appreciation of Chamblee’s historical legacy and ensure its preservation for future generations.
In 2016, a group of passionate community members came together with a shared vision — to preserve and celebrate the unique history of Chamblee, Georgia. The original Chamblee History Project began with enthusiasm and purpose, gathering early stories, photos, and local interest. Though the group made meaningful progress, the project faced challenges in organization and sustainability, and eventually paused before it could fully take flight.
In 2025, that same spirit of preservation was reignited with renewed energy, focus, and commitment. The Chamblee History Project 2.0 was born — a revitalized effort with a clear plan, structured leadership, and a path toward official nonprofit status. This new chapter brought together a dedicated team of residents, historians, and volunteers united by a common goal: to document, protect, and promote Chamblee’s rich and diverse past for generations to come.
Now, with an engaged community and committed individuals leading the way, the Chamblee History Project 2.0 is moving forward with purpose. From collecting oral histories and photographs to preserving artifacts and historic landmarks, the project is laying the foundation for a permanent legacy — one that honors Chamblee’s people, places, and stories, ensuring they are never forgotten.

The Chamblee History Project 2.0 is dedicated to preserving our city’s past while building a lasting legacy for the future. Our goals include recording oral histories from longtime residents, developing a digital archive of photographs and documents, and achieving nonprofit status to sustain our mission. We plan to engage the community through guest speakers, educational programs, and public booths at Chamblee events, where we’ll share our work and raise funds through the sale of historical items like old city maps. Ultimately, our vision is to establish a permanent home — a Chamblee History Welcome Center or museum — where the city’s stories, artifacts, and heritage can be celebrated for generations to come.
The Chamblee History Project 2.0 is currently in the process of obtaining official recognition as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our nonprofit status is pending approval with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Upon approval, all donations will be fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
