Events & Meetings
The Chamblee History Project is actively developing programs, meetings, and community events to celebrate and preserve the city’s history. As we grow—especially with our upcoming 501(c)(3) nonprofit status—our meetings and events will expand to include guest speakers, public programs, and community-based history days.
We currently hold one meeting per month, attended by Board Members only during our organizational phase.
Because we rotate meeting locations, the schedule shifts between:
The Third Wednesday of each month, or
The Third Thursday of each month
Meeting dates are announced ahead of time depending on location availability.
Meetings focus on:
Organizational planning
Establishing historical documentation standards
Developing community outreach
Preparing for our 501(c)(3) nonprofit structure
Coordinating upcoming events and partnerships
Even before our official nonprofit status, we have already taken part in several major community events that celebrate Chamblee’s culture and history:
Shared local history, engaged with residents, and showcased early progress in building the Chamblee History Project collection.
Connected with community members, collected stories, and promoted awareness of our mission.
Participated in honoring Wylie Chamblee, the namesake of our city. This event marked a meaningful moment in recognizing the roots of our community identity.
These early events have helped us connect with residents, identify potential artifacts, and gather stories that shape Chamblee’s historical narrative.
We hope to continue attending and participating in major Chamblee events as our organization grows and gains nonprofit status, including:
A future goal is to have a visible presence at Chamblee Cities Week, where we can present displays, offer photo scanning sessions, and share community stories.
We also hope to take part in:
Cultural festivals
Seasonal community gatherings
Neighborhood day events
School history programs
Our goal is to weave Chamblee’s history into every space where the community comes together.
Once our 501(c)(3) status is finalized, we will introduce:
Community members will be invited to attend, learn, and share stories.
Featuring historians, longtime residents, and experts on Chamblee’s unique past.
Public viewing of newly collected artifacts, documents, and photographs.
Hands-on opportunities for photo scanning, oral history recording, and artifact exploration.
